Edward G. Klomp was born on August 15, 1894. He was the son of Gerrit Klomp and Riekje Franken Klomp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 12, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Clark Cemetery, Newaygo County, Michigan, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in St. Juvin, France under the MISSING IN ACTION section.
