Arbie J. West, aged 22, was born on May 15, 1922. He was the son of Eddie J. West and Lillie Bell Edge West. Arbie entered the military service in North Carolina. He served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Sergeant during World War II. He died on November 24, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy. He also has a cenotaph located in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA.
