Raymond Ridley Wheeler, aged 19, was born on September 24, 1925 in College Park, Fulton County, Georgia. He was the son of Tommie Lee Wheeler and Janie W. Hammett Wheeler. He enlisted in the Army on November 10, 1943 at Fort Mcpherson, Atlanta, Georgia and served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private during World War II. Raymond died on October 13, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.
