Wiley James Winfrey, aged 24, was born on August 1, 1920 in Knob Noster, Johnson County, Missouri. He was the son of Wiley Victor Winfrey and Martha Ellen Jenkins Winfrey. Wiley served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He died on October 22, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA.
