On April 5 1913 the Private First Class Norwood was born in West Almond, New York to Roland Norwood and Mary Louise Taylor Norwood. After graduating from Alfred High School and the New York State School of Agriculture Norwood married Helen Grist on February 26, 1942. Shortly after, Norwood was inducted in the U.S. Army on March 7, of the same year at Fort Niagara, Youngstown, New York. Atfter training at Fort Lewis Washington and Camp Haan, California where he attended Cook and Baker's school, Norwood departed for Europe in April 1944. On April 12, 1949 Norwood's body arrived in Knoxville. Norwood was survived by his wife, parents two sisters and brother Roland Norwood.
