Edward A. Griffey was born on January 18, 1920 in Carter County, Kentucky. He was the son of Milten Edward Griffey and Castria Francis Bond Griffey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Vanhoose Cemetery, Globe, Carter County, Kentucky, USA.
