Wendell Bert Perkins was born on June 6, 1922 in Johnson City, Broome County, New York. He was the son of Aaron E. Perkins. Wendell served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 17, 1944 and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott, Broome County, New York, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry monument in Omaha Beach, France and ranked as a Corporal.
