James Ralph Hickey was born on November 9, 1920. He was the son of William Carney Hickey and Stella Rene Hickey. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France but was declared Missing in Action and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Wheeler Cemetery, Maries County, Missouri, USA.
