Paul John Heun was born on April 26, 1924 in Whiteside County, Illinois. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Heun of Fulton. he was inducted into the armed services of his country. After a short period of concentrated training in army tactics at Camp Wolters TX, he returned home for a brief furlough, Dec. 12 to Dec. 20, 1943, spent with relatives and friends. He immediately sailed for England where his stay was brief. Pvt. Heun took part in the invasion of the French coast and was Killed in Action June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France. He is now buried in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois, USA.
