Gilkey Addie Hall, Jr. was born on October 28, 1918 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He was the son of Gilkey Addie Hall and Mary A. Nanney Hall. He attended 4 years of high school and was a weaver before he enlisted. He enlisted on September 2, 1942 at Camp Croft, South Carolina. Gilkey served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 7, 1944 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. He also has a cenotaph located in Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Union Mills, Rutherford County, North Carolina, USA.
