Edward J. Sobrak was born on April 3, 1924 in Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. He was the son of Thomas Sobrak and Clara LaJeunesse Sobrak. He attended the local schools and on November 20, 1942 was inducted into military service of the United States at Fort Snelling. He received his miliary training at Camp Knox, Camp Campbell, Tenn., and in Pennsylvania, and was sent overseas where he landed at Casablanca. He served in the Tunisian and Sicilian campaigns before being return to England to prepare for the invasion of Normandy. It was during this campaign that he was killed in action on June 10, 1944. He is now buried in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota, USA.
