Dale P. Schuetz was born on June 28, 1918 in Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the Field Artillery of the 1st Infantry Division. Pvt. Schuetz was severely wounded in battle and later died of his wounds. He was one of two squad security riflemen who were surprised by a German patrol and killed by gun fire and grenade. He died on June 19, 1944 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Saint Peter's Cemetery, Mercier, Brown County, Kansas, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument on Omaha Beach, France but his surname is inscribed as Schuets.
