Junior Olen Stoneking was born on November 16, 1921 in Adams County, Illinois. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stoneking. Junior was working in construction when enlisted as in Peoria, Illinois on October 5, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the Signal Corps, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Clayton South Side Cemetery, Clayton, Adams County, Illinois, USA.
