Albert Pearce Lawson, of Cleveland, Tennessee, was born on 15 February 1915. He was one of the machine gunners aboard the B-26 Marauder 42-96101 4 T-N which took off from Homlmsley South, Hamshire, UK at 1700 with the mission of bombing the bridge over the Oise at L’Isle Adam, France. It was hit by flak around 1945 and one of the engines burst into flames. The crew completed the bombing run and then the entire crew was able to bail out except for the pilot, Captain Darrel R. Lindsey, who stayed with the plane and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. S/Sgt Lawson was taken prisoner and brought to Stalag Luft 4 in Gross Tychow in what is now Poland.
