Neuman was born in Beatrice on June 5, 1922 in Nebraska. He was inducted into the army at Beatrice on October 7, 1942. He was transferred to Fort Knox, Ky., for training and later to a camp at Bowie, Texas. July, 1943, he was sent to England and then transferred to France and finally to Belgium. Although he had trained with the Armored Tank Force, when the need became so great for more men in the infantry, he volunteered for service with the infantry. Marion served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in action Jan. 15, 1945 in the vicinity of Butgenbach, Belgium and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
