Donald George Losey, Jr. was born on June 26, 1955 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was the son of Donald George Losey and Carol Melissa Glass Losey.

Losey, 28 and staff Sgt. Alexander M. Ortega Jr., 25, of Rochester, N.Y., were killed on Aug. 29, 1983 during a mortar barrage at Beirut International Airport. The two, members of an international peace-keeping force, were the first Marines killed in combat since Americans arrived in 1982. Donald is now buried in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA.
