William D. Elliot, Jr. was born on January 17, 1953 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William D. Elliot and Margaret Shillow Elliot. He served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class. Bill was killed in the terrorist bombing of the United States Marine barracks. In the early morning hours of 23 Oct. 1983, a truck loaded with explosives crashed through the security perimeter of the USMC Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. In the explosion that followed, 241 US Military personnel were killed and 80 serious wounded. He is now buried in the Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. He also has a cenotaph located in Briar Creek Union Cemetery, Briar Creek, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
