Roger F. Bach was born on May 27, 1920. He served in the 678th Bomber Squadron, 444th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Corporal and Gunner on the B-29 aircraft. Corporal Bach was killed when U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-5-BW Superfortress #42-6262 "Round Trip Ticket" was shot down by enemy fighter over Mukden, Manchuria. He died on December 7, 1944 and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. Ten other airmen also perished. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
