Lois Garland Bains was born in 1921 in New Mexico. He served in the 2nd Bomb Squadron, based in China as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Lois died on May 26, 1945 in Anhui, China and is now buried in the Little Rock National Cemetery, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, USA in the same grave as his crewmate William G. Hawks (Radio-Gunner). He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
