Joseph Dixon “Joe” Barringer, aged 28, was born on October 30, 1916 in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. He served in the 1327th Army Air Force Base Unit, Air Transport Command as a Flight Officer and Pilot of an aircraft. Joseph died on January 7, 1945 in China and is now buried in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia, USA. He served as an aviator in WWII and was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
