Gordon Beecher, aged 25, was born on March 15, 1918. He resided in Essex County, New York prior to the war. Gordon served as a Master Sergeant and Crew Chief in the 12th Air Force Squadron, India-China Wing Air Transport Command in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Gordon died as a result of a "Non Battle" related incident during the war. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.

He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1944-8-23.
