Clyde D. Bauer was born on November 15, 1919. He was the son of Frank H. Bauer and Ada E. Dinsmore Bauer. He served in the 341st Bombardment Group, Heavy as a Second Lieutenant. He was killed when his plane was shot down over Burma on February 1, 1945 at the age of 25. Clyde is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1944-10-14.
