Robert M. Bentz, aged 22, was born on April 19, 1923 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. He served in the 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers" as a Second Lieutenant. He was Killed in Action on July 27, 1945 in China and is now buried in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
