Frank J. Blair was born on September 13, 1921 in New Jersey. He was the son Joseph and Mary Blair. He served with the 374th Bomb Squadron, 308th Bomb Group, 14th Air Force as Staff Sergeant. Frank was killed in service when B-24J Liberator #44-40573 exploded during takeoff, or shortly after takeoff from Chengkung Air Base in China during World War II. Six other men were also killed. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
