Garnett S. Brattie Garnett Steele Beattie was born on December 6, 1920. He was the son of Henry Attwood, Beattie and Caroline Steele Beattie. He served in the Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Co-pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Garnett was Killed in Action on December 6, 1920 in Tezpur, India. He is now buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Starkville, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
