Alexander Harwood Britain, Jr., aged 22, was born on October 15, 1921 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. He was a graduate of University of Texas; Class of 1942. Alexander served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and Co-pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 14, 1944 over China in a plane crash and is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
