Albert C. Brown, aged 23, was born on September 22, 1920. On 26 June 1944, Sergeant Albert C. Brown was serving as a member of the Crew of a Transport Airplane of the India-China Wing, Air Transport Command. On that day, SGT Brown's courageous actions, at the cost of his life, earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He also has a cenotaph located in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana, USA. Albert was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.

Distinguished Service Cross Citation:
Sergeant Albert C. Brown (ASN: 35369045), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as a member of the Crew of a Transport Airplane of the India-China Wing, Air Transport Command, on 26 June 1944. The personal courage and zealous devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Brown on this occasion, at the cost of his life, have upheld the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Air Transport Command, and the United States Army Air Forces.
