Charles Brumagim, aged 25, was born on June 11, 1919. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. Charles served as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on C-46 #42-96746, 1328th Base Unit, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Charles died in the "Line Of Duty" when his C-46 crashed in Singapore after taking off from the Chanyi Air Base during the war. He was originally interred in Schofield Barracks and was later re-interred in National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii on January 24, 1949.
Brumagim was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his surname is inscribed as Brumaghin and ranked as a Private First Class. Also inscribed his job as Radio Operator.
