Willie Lee Bryce was born on May 6, 1921. He served in the 78th Transport Squadron, 22nd Air Transport Group as a First Lieutenant. He was lost aboard U.S. Army Air Corps C-46A Commando #41-12298, which he was a Co-pilot, in the China-Burma-India theater on July 1, 1943. Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until December 18, 1945. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. Willie was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
