Julius Butow, aged 26, was born on March 17, 1918. He was the son of Frank Butow and Dora R. Butow. Julius served in the 1327th Army Air Force Base Unit as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Julius died on November 11, 1944 and is now buried in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
