Edward G. Cassidy, aged 28, was born on February 22, 1916. He served in the 40th Bombardment Group as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier during World War II. He was killed aboard B-29-1-MO Superfortress #42-6237, when the plane was shot down by anti aircraft fire over Nanking, China. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. Edward was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
