He enlisted in the Army on February 26, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as a Skilled pattern and model maker and also as Single, with dependents. Edward served as a Technician Fifth Grade, Signal Corps, U.S. Army during World War II. He died on March 20, 1945 at the age of 20 and is now buried in the Baltimore National Cemetery, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Maryland, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
