Leslie H. Conklin was born in 1921. He was the son of Harry H. Conklin and Emma Sobilla Conklin. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. Leslie was killed on March 16, 1945 in India and is now buried in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, USA.

He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1945-05-15.
