James B. Conner was born on October 20, 1912. He served in the 678th Bomber Squadron, 444th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Second Lieutenant and Flight Engineer. 2nd Lieutenant Conner was killed when the U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-1-BW Superfortress #42-6262 was shot down by fighter over Mukden, Manchuria. Ten other airmen also perished. James is noiw buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
