Alfred C. Dumont, Jr. was born on September 3, 1919. He served in the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Captain during World War II. Pilot of a C-87, he was killed in a plane crash on a take-off on August 10, 1945 at Jorhat in the Assam Valley in India. Alfred is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.

He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
