Stanley Earl Egger was born on December 10, 1917 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Frederick Robert Egger and Elizabeth Hoffman Egger. Stanley served in the US Air Corps as a Private First Class and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He was killed in a plane crash near his airfield in India and is now buried in the Hillcrest Memorial Park, Centralia, Marion County, Illinois, USA. Stanley was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
