Loyal L. Fox was born on June 12, 1924 in Wisconsin. He was the son of Hugh Leonard Fox and Evelyn Violet Sommers Jones. He served in the 1st Bombardment Group as a Sergeant and Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. Loyal died on July 5, 1945 at the age of 21 and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He also has a cenotaph located in Fox Cemetery, Amery, Polk County, Wisconsin.

Loyal was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
