Robert W. Franklin was born on February 23, 1922. He was the son of Jesse Franklin and Bessie Ten Eyck Franklin. Robert served in the 1333rd Army Air Force Base Unit as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on March 31, 1945 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery, Rosemead, Los Angeles County, California, USA. Robert was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
