Duane E. Gamet was born on August 14, 1923. He was the son of James I. Gamet and Beulah B. Gamet. Duane served in the 1328th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on August 19, 1944 at the age of 21 and is now buried in the Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
