Ernest W. Garner, Jr. entered the military service in Georgia. He served in the 528th Fighter Squadron, 311th Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant. He was declared "Missing in Action" on April 14, 1945 and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.
