George M. Goodwin was born on April 18, 1924. He served in the 11th Bomber Squadron, 341st Bomber Group, Medium as a Staff Sergeant and Engineer/Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. On 20 June 1945, was aboard the B-25J #43-27807 on a mission to attack and destroy multiple bridges in IndoChina (Vietnam). In the course of performing a low-level bomb run, the aircraft appeared to go out of control and crash near the target, a railroad bridge at Quang Tri, IndoChina. He was Killed in Action and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.

George was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
