Roy Grant, Jr. was born on April 29, 1916. He was the son of Morgan LeRoy Grant and Mary Frances Grant. Roy served in the 1337th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on September 19, 1944 at the age of 28 and is now buried in the Grandfield Memorial Cemetery, Grandfield, Tillman County, Oklahoma, USA.

Roy was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
