Charles R. Griffin was born on April 26, 1922. He served as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II in the US Air Corps. He was Killed in Action on December 10, 1944 at the age of 22 in China and is now buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA in a common grave with his crew. He also has a cenotaph located in Mount Peace Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. Charles was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
