Robert Hugh Hamilton was born on December 2, 1920. He was the son of Robert William Hamilton and Agnes Dorothy Grosse Hamilton. Robert was a St. Cecilia High school graduate. He enlisted in the Air Corps on February 7, 1942. He trained at Sheppard Field, Texas then was sent to the Consolidated plant for speceialized training. His group left February 19, 1943 and went to India before going to China. He was Killed in Action on April 9, 1943 in China at the age of 22 and is now buried in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA.

Robert was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1943-04-08.
