James Houston Henderson, Jr. was born on November 14, 1911 in Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, USA. He was the son of James Houston Henderson and Lulah Victoria Ross Henderson. James served in the 375th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group, Heavy as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was declared "Missing in Action" on December 13, 1945 and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He also has a cenotaph located in Ross Cemetery, Park Hill, Cherokee County, Oklahoma. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
