Donald L. Hoag was born on February 18, 1922. He served in the 1345th Army Air Force Base unit as a Private First Class and Crew Chief of an aircraft during World War II. He died on December 22, 1944 at the age of 22 and is now buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego County, California, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
