William R. Houghton was born on June 8, 1914. He was stationed at Mitchel Field for six years before he went overseas and was stationed in India with the Army Air Corps. He was Killed in Action on February 11, 1944 in the Asiatic theater and is now buried in the Raleigh National Cemetery, Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA. William was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
