Richard Martin Hurrell was born on February 19, 1909. He served in the 1333rd Army Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Richard died on March 15, 1945 at the age of 36 and is now buried in the Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park, Seattle, King County, Washington, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1945-03-16.
