Guy Alvin Johnson was born in 1910 in Nebraska. He was the son of Carey Herbert Johnson and Florence Drusilla Benham Johnson. 1st Lt. Johnson served as the Bombardier on B-29 #42-6230 that crashed in Japan during World War II. He perished when B-29 Superfortress #42-6230 was shot down over Wakamatsu Fukuoka, Japan by enemy fighter. This aircraft and crew had the distinction of being the first B-29 shot down over Japan. All eleven crew Killed in Action, plus one civilian aboard. He is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA in a common grave with his crew.

1Lt Johnson was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
