Thomas Arnold Jones, Jr. was born on September 11, 1916. He was a pilot with the Flying Tigers also knows as the American Volunteer Group. He was killed when the P40-E he was flying crashed during gunnery practice in Kunming, China. Before joining the American Volunteer Group, Tom was a Navy Ensign Pilot in Scouting Squadron Five on the USS Yorktown. He is now buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Walla Walla, Walla Walla County, Washington, USA. Thomas He one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
